The Truth Revealed! Muaythai beat K-1 in Japan

The Truth Revealed! Muaythai beat K-1 in Japan     The representative of the Muaythai association of Japan has announced that muaythai has become very popular in Japan recently, while there has been a decline in the number of K-1 fights after the sport encountered funding problems.

Chisa Yamane, one of the representatives of Japan’s Professional Muaythai Committee (JPMC) and a representative of the Muaythai association of the WBC in Japan, mentioned that Japanese have fallen in love with muaythai.

Nowadays, several Japanese boxers travel to Thailand to learn muaythai.  Furthermore, approximately 300 gyms in Japan have hired ex-muaythai boxers from Thailand as coaches to teach muaythai in Japan.  Promoters are also starting to organise several muaythai fights in Japan too.

Yamane explained that K-1 had been designed to help Japanese boxers beat Thai boxers.  To this effect, several rules were introduced in K-1; for examples, the prohibition of the use of elbows, and of bending the body to attack with knees.

However, the real boxers want to fight under the real muaythai rules, especially since K-1 has begun to have financial difficulties.  Investigations are ongoing and it is believed that the K-1 owner will be imprisoned for three years.  Meanwhile, K-1’s problems are to muaythai’s benefit as the Thai sport is sure to be more successful globally.
